West Timmins acquires historical gold mine in Mexico - Thursday 19th July 2007

West Timmins Mining has acquired one of the highest grade gold properties in Mexico, the Lluvia de Oro gold-silver mine in Chihuahua.

For the last quarter of a century the mine has been part of Mexico's National Mineral Reserve, and produced around 100,000 tonnes of gold and silver ore between 1899 and 1915.

Production grades averaged 95 grams per tonne of gold and 850 grams per tonne of silver, with precious metal mineralization being produced from silicified mantos and individual veins.

Since the 1950s production at the mine has stopped, but some exploration work was conducted in the 1980s. Results are believed to have returned 35 metres grading four grams per tonne of gold and 20 metres grading 5.6 g/t.

"West Timmins is extremely pleased to have been able to add another gold exploration project of this calibre to our Mexican project portfolio," said West Timmins' Darin Wagner.

"The proximity to our Montana de Oro project will allow both projects to be explored from the same base of operations."

The company is also active in Mexico's Sierra Madre gold belt.
